YOUR TREATMENT GUIDE / 01

What is a fractional laser facial?

The clinic’s laser facial uses Cynosure Emerge fractional, non-ablative technology. Fractional treatment delivers energy to small areas within the skin, leaving surrounding tissue between them. Non-ablative means it does not remove the whole surface layer in the way an ablative resurfacing treatment does.

The intended response involves the skin’s repair processes. Improvement is assessed over time, rather than judged only by how the skin looks immediately afterwards. This is a different treatment from a cleansing facial or chemical peel, with its own preparation and recovery requirements.

YOUR TREATMENT GUIDE / 02

Skin concerns and suitability

The original clinic page discusses tone and texture, fine lines, pigment concerns, scars and stretch marks. These are topics for assessment, not a guarantee that every concern can be treated. Tell the practitioner which change is most important to you and how long you have noticed it.

Your skin tone, tanning history, medicines, tendency to develop pigmentation or scars and previous procedures all matter. Mention cold sores, active irritation or infection, and any changing or unexplained skin mark. A mark that needs diagnosis should be assessed medically before cosmetic treatment.

YOUR TREATMENT GUIDE / 03

From consultation to treatment

The clinic lists a free consultation and patch test before laser treatment. Ask whether this laser is the right option, how it compares with a facial or peel, how many sessions may be recommended and what recovery you should plan for.

The practitioner explains the area, eye protection, expected sensations and aftercare before proceeding. Laser pulses can feel warm or sting. Ask how your response will be reviewed and whether photographs will be taken to document progress; any photography should be explained and agreed.

YOUR TREATMENT GUIDE / 04

Preparing your skin and diary

Bring details of your skincare, prescription and non-prescription medicines, supplements and recent treatments. The clinic’s original guidance stresses avoiding UV exposure and fake tan before treatment. Obtain current instructions for sun protection and product use.

Plan around work, social occasions and holidays. Do not book immediately before an important event without discussing likely redness and swelling. Ask whether particular active skincare ingredients need a temporary pause, and check with your prescriber before changing a prescribed treatment.

YOUR TREATMENT GUIDE / 05

Recovery and looking after your skin

Redness, warmth and swelling can follow treatment; how noticeable they are and how long they last varies. The original clinic photographs show treatment and recovery stages, but another person’s timeline is not a reliable forecast for yours.

Follow the practitioner’s instructions for cooling, cleansing, moisturising, sun protection, makeup and exercise. Avoid rubbing, picking or introducing extra exfoliation while the skin is recovering. Ask when you can restart your usual routine and when results should be reviewed.

YOUR TREATMENT GUIDE / 06

Understanding the limitations and risks

Potential complications include blistering, pigment changes, infection, a cold-sore flare and scarring. The practitioner should discuss risks relevant to your skin and explain alternatives. A successful patch test does not guarantee that a later treatment cannot cause a reaction.

Contact the clinic if pain, redness or swelling worsens, if blistering develops or if healing does not follow the advice you were given. Seek medical help for an urgent concern. Treatment cannot promise a particular appearance or replace medical assessment of a skin condition.

GOOD QUESTIONS WELCOME

Before
your visit.

What can I discuss at my consultation?

Tell the clinic about the changes you have noticed and what you hope to achieve. They will assess your skin and explain suitable options.

What should I expect afterwards?

Ask about recovery, possible side effects and aftercare at your consultation. The clinic will provide guidance specific to your treatment.

Is this the same as a facial?

No. A laser facial uses laser energy and has a different suitability assessment, preparation and recovery process from a product-based facial.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

Ask for the clinic’s instructions for your treatment. Do not use another client’s photograph with makeup as permission to apply it at the same point in your recovery.

When will I see the final result?

The skin response develops over time. Ask when the practitioner will review progress and whether further sessions would be appropriate.
